I read this at the beginning of my Christmas holiday and it was a perfect book to pull me out of my work world into relaxation. 25 This is the sixth book in the Armand Gamache Series. I enjoyed the tidbits of Quebec history and the descriptions of Old Quebec but the story itself lagged and finally just became uninteresting. Bury Your Dead recently won the Dilys Award in the US, as the book mystery bookstores most liked to sell in 2010. This story continues the themes of belonging and exclusion which were so present in I love the setting of Three Pines and the characters I revisit with each book.Man oh man do I love this series.

It is a library and historical society, but it is an Anglo society in the heart of Old Quebec. One part concerns a murder in Quebec City, with enough local color to make me want to visit the city again.
The overly descriptive and fragmentary writing style took some getting used to and the complex interior emotional lives of the main characters were, frankly, boring. Bury Your Dead is downright dazzling; Penny tells the story of four mysteries simultaneously and successfully pulls it off.
Beauvoir recounts to the locals some of the happenings related to the aforementioned terror event, explaining the step-by-step process that had Gamache in the middle of trying to save one of his new agents without ceding complete control to a farmer with a mission.
