This pleasant, sun-drenched body of water with a depth of only 40 feet at its center rests under the watchful gaze of Jove Peak.
Driving up Grizzly Peak Road there are many spectacular places to pull over to take photos. The trail will become more faint and several possible paths may become options. Personally, we would be more inclined to classify it as mostly Class 1 with a little Class 2 thrown in. Continue 6.7 miles; turn left on Shale City Road (road #38-2E-27). At this point, you're 3.4 miles from the trailhead.
That’s the summit. Fewer people know of or stop here and there is usually some parking available. Most of the tourists will not continue on beyond that point and many will give up even sooner, not being accustomed to the altitude and typically cool winds. Map shows three 13er summits that can be easily hiked from Loveland Pass. The road is the old US Highway 6. Lake Janus and Grizzly Peak The trail is mostly in good condition, but there is a section where it is somewhat overgrown. Eventually the trail undulates gently through unburned forest to pass on the left side of a large meadow. Older elementary age will do better and hopefully less complaint.Grizzly Peak is sequenced with UN13,117 (Cupid Peak). The hike to the base of Grizzly includes several miles and about a thousand feet or so of up and down (at elevation). The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips and is best used from June until October. More like the arched back of its namesake than a pointed precipice, this wilderness gem provides wide, rolling meadows and a mountain line-up for over half a mile more. From Interstate 5, take Exit 14; turn east on Highway 66. Just 100 feet later, stop at the next bend to get the best view of the Cascade Range of Southern Oregon, starting with Mount McLoughlin in the south and stretching north up to summits around Crater Lake, Mount Thielsen, and Three Sisters.The Grizzly Peak Trail climbs gently in the shade of Douglas fir, grand fir, and white fir, with the occasional incense cedar. Shasta, and Diamond Peak.

You’ll see dead tree trunks, but you’ll also see a vast array of colorful wildflowers taking advantage of the sunlight. Otherwise, finding a place to camp anywhere close with all the development around Silverthorne & Keystone is not likely.

A well-defined, cairn-marked trail breaks off the main trail on the right. From here you’ll see the Walker Creek drainage, the Continue through open forest, soon reaching the area scorched by the large 2002 East Antelope Fire.
Rainier, Gothic Peak, Del Campo, Columbia, Kyes, Pugh, Painted, and Glacier, to name a few, guard the horizon. At one point, the trail drops you onto the east side of the ridge, then regains the ridge. Start by hiking for 3 miles to Grizzly Lake with a 12,500 foot elevation on the well defined Grizzly Lake Trail. Do what you can to minimize further damage. Grizzly combines well with Mount Sniktau and UN13,117 (Cupid) for a short, triple-header day that can easily have you back to your Front Range home well before dinner.

The immediate "static" solution will still cost several thousand. After 3 miles, turn left on road #38-2E-9.2; follow 2 miles to trailhead. Grizzly Peak Trail is located near La Loma Park in the Berkeley Hills section of the city of Berkeley, California and leads to an incredible lookout of the San Francisco Bay area.
Region Oregon-Washington. There is a variation to this route that begins about half way up the trail to Pt. A stroll north on the Pacific Crest Trail to tranquil Lake Janus and neighboring Grizzly Peak offers panoramas of the Central Cascades’ finest peaks and undulating meadows blanketed with wildflowers as far as the eye can see.
