In fact, you might be surprised by how many dark rides were very different when they first opened.
This ride starred the less whimsical Dr. Nigel Channing in place of Dreamfinder, and Figment only got brief cameos at the start and end of the ride. The Disney dark ride that we would like to close is none other than Journey Into Imagination with Figment.This ride opened in 2002 as the third iteration in a line of Imagination Pavilion rides. Rather than a construction-like atmosphere, the scenery now has this abstract, virtual feel, such as a digital blizzard replacing a physical freezer room you originally drove through. The never-ending stairway room? All we can say is, we think it might be time for this attraction to move on to the big amusement park in the sky.It’s hard for me to choose a dark ride at all that I would like to see closed because for me, dark rides ARE Disney, but I would probably say the same. And bring back the iconic exhibits from the 1990s like the Rainbow corridor and hexagon lights in the upstairs Imagination Room.But then if you HAD to chose a replacement for it to close, what would that be? How do they do that! It’s pretty hard to argue with that sort of accolade. In addition, after being cursed, riders were sent hurtling in reverse before then plummeting head-first down a 28-foot waterfall.
The Sound, Illusion, Color, Gravity, and Connections themes of the lab, lacking Figment’s whimsical charm, just bored riders – and angered them, since they wanted to see Figment again.
